John Clarke wins UKBFF Dorchester Great Britain Qualifier

John Clarke wins UKBFF Dorchester Great Britain Qualifier

On August 16th I competed and won my class at the UKBFF Dorchester Great Britain Qualifier in the under 80kg class. I have spent the past 9 months preparing for the show and trying to add on more size. In April this year NRG sponsored me and I have been using there products which have included:

TTP
Transporter
Buzzin

Whey protein
Glutamine
Mass Gain

and as a result I was 12 lbs heavier on stage this year compared to last year and I was also leaner with only 3.5% body fat.

On 1st May I started my strict 14 week dieted for the show. The aim of my diet was to decrease body fat whilst retaining muscle, this involved an hour and a half cardio every day and weight training 5 days of the week, plus a very strict diet and supplimentation routine.

When I diet for a show I prefer to use a method called carb cycling which basically means that my carbohydrate and fat intake change on a daily basis, however my protein consumption remained the same.  The idea behind carb cycling is to use the low carbohydrate days to get rid of the fat and then have days where the carbs are increased the whole point of doing this is to shock your system 2-3 times a week with high carbs days so the body does not have time to adjust and the mobtabilism remains high.

After winning my class I was invited to compete at the Great Britain Finals in Nottingham on Sunday 19th October in the under 80 kg class. There will be around 20 competitors in my class with only 5 going through to the evening show where prizes are awarded so the competition will be fearce.

Since winning my last show I have continued my strict diet and have increased my cardio to 2 hours per day, with the 1st hour session at 5 am and the 2nd hour session at 7 pm this is after my 45 minute weight training session this will continue up until 3 days before the show. At this point I will increase my food intake and also rest until the show. My aim on 19th October is to be British Champion..watch this space!
